Blackstone Canalfest ’15

The tenth annual Blackstone Canalfest will take place Saturday, September 12, on Harding Street in Worcester, directly above the buried canal, at Kelley Square.

The ninth annual Blackstone Canalfest will take place Saturday, September 12th at Kelley Square in Worcester.

Canalfest “2015” will once again take the form of a giant street festival featuring vendors of all sorts; horse-drawn wagon tours of the neighborhood; food concessions; musicians, dancers and street performers; special children’s activities; a raffle; and kayak rides on a 75’ long, water-filled replica of the original canal itself.

The Blackstone Canal established a commercial link between Worcester and Providence in the early 19th century and still exists in its original location beneath what is now Harding Street. The Canal District Alliance is promoting the replication of this watercourse between Union Station and Kelley Square, to serve as a catalyst for the growth of a mixed-use district. The purpose of Canalfest is to raise consciousness and excitement for the project and to celebrate the new life that is already unfolding in the neighborhood.

The festival will run from 11am to 5pm and several thousand visitors are expected. 7,500 attended last year’s event!

• Booth assignments will be made at the discretion of the Canalfest Committee.
• Check or money order for the total amount due should accompany your registration form. Please make check payable to Canal District Alliance.

Vendor Guidelines
Blackstone Canalfest

Thank you for participating in the Blackstone Canalfest. Please read these Vendor Guidelines carefully and sign a copy to return with your registration form. Let us know if you have questions.

In order to make the day a pleasant experience for everyone we ask that you follow these few guidelines:

• Please check in at the registration table by 9:30 a.m. the day of the event, where you will be given your table assignment and directions for setup and parking.
• Please be set up and ready to do business by 11:00 a.m. The festival will start promptly at 11:00 a.m. All vendors are required to staff their booths and conduct business until 5:00 pm, when Canalfest ends.
• You are responsible for your space and area. Please make sure trash and any debris are picked up both during the event and at the end of the day. There will be an area designated to deposit trash.
• During the day, please address any questions to committee members at the Information Tent. If you can’t leave your booth send a message with one of our volunteers.
• The Canalfest will supply your temporary food operation permit. City officials will check and we will be in compliance. This in included in your fee.
